Chiral intermediates
A number of enzymatic approaches are available for the synthesis of chiral molecules from achiral or prochiral intermediates. These approaches include keto group reduction (dehydrogenases) stereoselective addition reactions (lyases) reductive amination (transaminase) and more general desymmetrisation reactions.
The following process was recently developed at Novacta Biosystems for a client requiring a manufacturing route for desymmetrisation of a diol.
Novacta Biosystems has a research interest in the modification of ammonia lyase enzymes to accept suitable unsaturated substrates for the synthesis of β amino acids.
