Metabolite Services Offered at Novacta Biosystems
Drug and agro chemical pre-screening
Novacta Biosystems can screen your drug against a wide panel of microorganisms and generate a panel of ‘likely metabolites' that will be observed in the mammalian metabolism. This approach can save time by facilitating rapid identification.
Metabolite Identification
Novacta Biosystems can prepare a range of Phase I and Phase II Metabolites for identification and scale-up purposes. Many customers choose our services when a test compound has generated an unknown metabolite in toxicology studies or clinical trials and identification and/or a sample is needed. Our Metabolite Service approach to your problem can be seen by clicking here.
Phase I metabolites at Novacta Biosystems:
- Novacta Biosystems has used microorganisms to obtain Phase I metabolites. Selecting the microorganism most appropriate for producing a desired metabolite is always a challenge. Our expertise, our large proprietary culture collection and our previous experience combine to enable us to provide a range of metabolite products.
- Novacta Biosystems' research team has extensive experience in this field - whether the reaction is a hydroxylation, an N- or S- oxidation, a reduction, or a dealkylation.
- The use of metabolite factories allows easy scale-up of metabolite production.
- We have already used our ‘metabolite factories' to produce metabolites for a number of major pharma partners in mg to kg quantities.
- Applying the experience gained by generating hundreds of metabolites, the production of target metabolites can take place in surprisingly short periods of time.
Phase II metabolites at Novacta Biosystems:
- Novacta Biosystems has had success generating Phase II glucuronidated metabolite products for multiple customers:
- A cloned enzyme has been used to produce 1 mg of N-linked glucuronide
- Crude liver homogenates have been employed at Novacta Biosystems to generate greater than 100 mg quantities of glucuronide Phase II metabolites
- We have a set of microbes that have been shown to carry out glucuronidation on a wide range of substrates
- We continue to expand our technology platform for preparing quantitative amounts of glucuronides
