Reduced by-products
The exceptional chemoselective characteristics of enzymes allow for highly targeted functional group modifications. For example, complete distinction can be achieved between aliphatic and aromatic nitriles, amides and esters even when present on the same molecule. The ability for enzymes to differentiate between identical groups in different regio positions offers further opportunities for reduced by-product formation.
The following process example was developed by Novacta Biosystems from biocatalyst selection through to development, optimisation and technology transfer to the customer's own facilities.
